Lawyer Cries Out, "Masked Number Calling Me" As Court Adjourns Suit Over Magu's Sack

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja yesterday adjourned till June 29th, 2017 a suit filed by a lawyer, Johnmary Chukwukasi Jideobi, seeking to remove Ibrahim Magu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

At the resumed hearing of the Originating Summons, the plaintiff, Jideobi, who represented himself, informed the court that Magu and the EFCC (the 3rd and 4th Defendants) just served him their counter affidavit and written addresses just this morning in the Courtroom despite filing the said processes since April 3.

The Plaintiff invited the Court to take note of the unhealthy conduct of Magu and EFCC by deliberately refusing to serve him much earlier despite the fact that he has been calling them and demanding for the processes. He submitted that the conduct of the 3rd and 4th Defendants constituted an unhealthy drag on speedy administration of justice.

As a result, the Plaintiff sought for a short adjournment to enable him file a further affidavit and do a composite reply to the Defendants’ processes. The Defendants did not oppose the application for adjournment. The Senate was however not represented. Before adjournment, there was a mild drama when the plaintiff sought the leave of the Court to make a very “salient observation”.

The Plaintiff however alleged that since the last four or five days, he has been receiving threatening calls from masked numbers, warning him to withdraw the matter or he would not be alive to hear the Court’s judgment on the matter.

Jama’atu Nasril Islam Slams NYSC For Opening Orientation Camps During Ramadan

The Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, a foremost Islamic body in Nigeria, has “condemned in strongest terms”, the decision of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to continue running its orientation camps for fresh graduates across the country, despite the Ramadan fast.

The body, led by Abubakar Sa’ad, the Sultan of Sokoto, also called on the Nigerian Army to immediately postpone its planned recruitment exercise until Muslims have concluded their fasting period for 2017.

According to Premium Ties, the decision was part of many resolutions, which included fervent prayers for ailing President Muhammadu Buhari, reached by JNI at its recently-concluded annual central council meeting in Kaduna. The two-day event was held between May 21 and 22. The organisation said NYSC admitting new entrants into orientation camps and the Nigerian Army conducting recruitment exercise during Ramadan would put Muslim faithful, especially those observing fasting and prayers, at a disadvantage.

“This is because the prospective corps members would be at disadvantage to their faith and other camp activities. “In the same vein, the council calls on the authority of the Nigerian Army to postpone the intended recruitment exercise until after Ramadan to avoid putting prospective candidates at disadvantage,” it said.

The JNI called on the NYSC to honour a previous agreement entered by the two parties for camp activities to be placed on hold during Ramadan.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Army and NYSC did not immediately return calls and text messages to their respective lines for comments Wednesday afternoon. The Nigerian Army had earlier this month announced plans to recruit new personnel in an exercise slated to take place between May and June, 2017.

The NYSC opened camps for the latest stream of graduates last week.

Court Dissolves Ex-Rep’s Marriage, Quashes Adultery Allegation Against Wife

A High Court in Jos, Plateau State on Tuesday dissolved the marriage between Leonard Dilkon, a former member of the House of Representatives, and his wife, Joy. Justice David Mann of High Court III, dissolved the marriage in his judgment on the petition filed by Joy, seeking an end to the union.

“The marriage between these two people has broken down irretrievably. It is hereby dissolved,” Justice Mann declared.

NAN reports that Joy, through her counsel, Juliet Esoro, had filed a petition on Aug. 5, 2016 asking the court to dissolve the marriage because she was no more in love with her husband. She also prayed the court to grant her access to the three children the marriage was blessed with. The children had been with their father since the marital crisis began in 2011.

She said since July 3, 2011, when the crises started, she had lived separately with her husband “without any conjugal relationship between them”.

But Mr. Dilkon, who did not oppose her plea for divorce, accused Joy of committing adultery with her pastor, Damjuma Fwenji. The former lawmaker, through his counsel, Francis Okafor, accused the wife of being unfaithful to him “for à very long time”. In his cross petition to the court, Mr. Dilkon claimed Joy once took in for Mr. Fwenji, but alleged that the pregnancy was aborted.

Mr. Fwenji, however, denied the allegation, and filed a motion seeking N10 million as compensation for the damage to his image and reputation. Mr. Mann, in his judgement, declared that from all indications, especially from the evidences of the prosecution and defence witnesses, the marriage could not stand since all attempts to reconcile the couple had failed.

“From all indications, the marriage between Mr and Mrs. Dilkon has broken down irretrievable and I hereby declared it dissolved. “As for the prayer for access to the children, the court hereby grants the mother of the three children equal access as their father, both at home and at school,’’ he declared.

On the issue of Mr. Dilkon’s claim of adultery against the wife and the clergy, the judge declared that that petition had failed as the “petitioner could not substantiate his claim before this honourable court.’’

“I hereby declare that Dilkon’s claim of adultery has failed and therefore is struck out.

“Fwenji’s demand for N10 million as damage can also not stand since he did not follow due process in filing his appeal. It is therefore discarded,’’ Mr. Mann further declared.

VP. Osinbajo Gives LASG Go-Ahead To Reconstruct Lagos International Airport Road

The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has granted permission to the Lagos State Government to embark upon a total reconstruction of the International Airport Road from Oshodi.

In a Press Statement signed on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tunji Bello, the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode who made the disclosure, commended the Acting President for his statesman like approach to issues and for fast tracking the process.

“We are very appreciative of the good gesture of His Excellency, the Acting President for acceding to our request which is not only very timely but a very heartwarming one. Posterity will never forget this genuine developmental action”, Governor Ambode said.

He also described the approval as a 50th birthday to the people of Lagos State, describing it a further demonstration of the determination of the present administration to ensure the effectiveness of the Executive Order on improving the Ease of Doing Business recently signed by the Acting President.

Governor Ambode also gave kudos to President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the enabling environment to attract Foreign Direct Investment into the nation, adding that with the upgrading of the International Airport Road which is the gateway to the nation’s commercial nerve centre, the country will attract new investments.

The Governor had in early March this year, raised an alarm about the present state of the Muritala Muhammed International Airport Road, describing it as a national disgrace that required immediate attention to salvage the nation’s image.

He stated then that the State presently has a design for the reconstruction of the road as well as the funds to embark on the project but was yet to get the go ahead from the Federal Government.

In his words: “The road linking Oshodi to the International Airport, you would all agree with me is a national embarrassment. In the spirit of the regeneration and urbanisation that this administration has set out to achieve, we believe strongly that the image that is exhumed by the decadence of that road must be repaired and we took it upon ourselves to appropriate the 2017 budget that the House of Assembly should approve the total reconstruction of the Airport Road from Oshodi to the International Airport.

“The State currently has a design of 10 lanes to come from Oshodi to the International Airport with interchange and flyover that would drop you towards the Local Airport. The contractor is already set to go and everything as I said has been completed and we already have the cash, but alas we are having challenges with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. This is a Federal and not a State road. The Federal Ministry of Works believes that they should do the road, but they have not been able to do it all these years past.”

Governor Ambode had said if given the approval, his administration was ready to hit the ground running and begin construction of the Airport Road within two weeks and finish same within a period of six months.

Besides, the Governor also implored the Federal Government to avail the State of the N2billion appropriated for the Airport Road in the 2017 National Budget to carry out the project.

“I just want to appeal to the Federal Ministry of Works, to let go or reimburse us with whatever it is that they are owing us and even if they are not willing to pay us now, we have the money to do it. It is a national disgrace and we would not be part of it. We would like to do it as part of the celebration of Lagos at 50,” Governor Ambode had said then.

It would be recalled that the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing in its reaction said the delay in granting the request the of Lagos State was because the Memorandum conveying the request of Lagos State which was already before the Federal Executive Council has not reached completion stage.

“The Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing Ministry has presented the Memorandum conveying the request of the Lagos State Government to the Federal Executive Council as was done with a similar request by the Kaduna State Government in 2016”.

“Due to the fact that TWO of the roads also connect Ogun State, the Federal Executive Council could not reach an immediate decision on them because it requested the input of the other State Government affected”, the federal ministry explained.

Massive Crowd At Lagos JAMB Office

People wants to go to school by fire by force in Nigeria and this is due to the fact that everybody still believes what our grandpa told us "go to school, get good grades, graduate and bang ..you have a job". Can someone please tell this jambites that that notion is a myth. Is not true at all.

On a second note, I think this Is by far the most disorganized jamb that has been conducted ever since. How can Jamb stop CBT centres from doing the data correction (change of institution, name, course e.t.c) for jambites and directed all students to their various offices to make the changes when they cannot handle it. Why is Nigeria going backwards instead of forwards?

This was the situation of things at the jamb office at Ikoyi as shared by eyewitness. It was reported that over over a thousand students came to make necessary corrections. It was so disorganized, the jamb officials there were so confused, they were just assaulting students.
To be candid, Jamb needs to reconsider this issue and allow CBT centres to make the necessary corrections for students.

2 Call Girls "Prostitutes" Kills Customer In Ogun Over Payment Disagreement - Photo

Ogun State Police Command have arrested two commercial s*x workers for allegedly killing on of their customer, Adeyinka Olayinka. The incident allegedly occurred at KS Hotel, Ifo on Tuesday 30th May, 2017.

The Nation News report said that Kudirat Raji alias Angela and Esther Basiru were said to have stabbed Olayinka with a broken bottle during an argument. Spokesman for the police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent (ASP) said the victim contracted Raji for the night but the duo had an argument over the price.

Oyeyemi said: 

“The victim was supervising an ongoing construction work on his property and so he spent the night at the hotel. He contracted Kudirat Raji to pass the night with him on an agreed amount but reneged on their agreement.

“His refusal to pay the agreed amount led to a hot argument between them. While the argument was going on, Esther Basiru, a friend to Angela broke a bottle and injured the deceased’s friend who was at the scene. “Angela used the broken part of the bottle to stab the deceased on the armpit thereby cutting one of his nerves, consequent upon which he bled to death.

“The manager of the hotel alerted the police at Ifo and the DPO, CSP Anthony Haruna led his men to the scene and arrested the two suspects. “The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the transfer of the case to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discrete investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects.”

Marriage this days is simply a 'word of mouth' as neither the male or female counterpart respect the institution. It is worst when related to celebrities because marriage is like 'boyfriend girlfriend' stuff to them.

Corpers are no exception. According to reports, a mild drama occurred at the Plateau State orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the Mangu area of the state as two newly sworn-in corps members were reportedly caught having s*x inside a gutter.

The corps members are both among the many young graduates that were recently sworn in for the Batch A Stream 1 for the compulsory one year national service. The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, May 30, 2017 when some camp soldiers on parade walked in on the duo in the middle of a heated s*x escapade.

The male corper blamed the devil for pushing him into the act while the lady who is reportedly married blamed the cold weather of the state for pushing her into the act. The lady whose identity withheld, stated that she finds it difficult to stay away from s*x for too long.

But in accordance to the law and the standards of the NYSC body, the erring corps members have been dismissed from the orientation camp.

Police Rescue A Woman Sentenced To Death For Adultery, Though Was Raped At Gunpoint

A 19-year-old teen has been sentenced to death by village elders in Pakistan’s Punjab province for allegedly having an illicit relationship with her cousin after she accused him of raping her at gunpoint.

According to Hindustimes, the incident happened on Friday in Rajanpur, a rural district about 400 kilometres from provincial capital Lahore. Shumaila was said to have escaped from the village after she came to know of the panchayat’s decision and reported the matter to police.

The woman has denied having any illicit relationship with her cousin Khalil Ahmed and alleged that he raped her at gunpoint when she was sleeping at her house.

“I could not raise an alarm as Ahmed was holding a gun. But the panchayat refused to accept my statement and declared that I wilfully slept with him,” she told the police.The panchayat did not take action against Ahmed. Fearing for her life, she approached the police on Saturday. “We have registered a FIR against the panchayat members and will take them into custody for declaring her kaari (liable to death either by stoning or else),” Hasnain said.

The SHO of Fazilpur Police Station, Qaisar Hasnain, said Shumaila’s father said in a statement that he was forced to accept the panchayat’s decision.

“Since the panchayat declared her liable to be killed he had to accept the decision as it was the tradition of his village,” he said. The police have sent Shumaila to a government safe house for women in Rajanpur.

“Honour” killings and death sentences are usually sanctioned through the panchayat system in Pakistani villages, but they have no legal standing.

To Curb Exam Malpractice, Ethiopia Shuts Down Internet In The Whole Country

Ethiopia has taken a rather drastic measure to curb exam malpractice in this country. They  shut down the internet on Tuesday (May 30) ahead of a scheduled national examination that was due to take place in the country on Wednesday.

Social media users noted that the internet service was interrupted from around 7 pm on Tuesday reportedly to prevent exam leaks. About 1.2 million students are taking the grade 10 national exams, with another 288,000 preparing for the grade 12 university entrance exams that will take place next week.

Sources in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa told Quartz the internet was reinstituted on Wednesday morning after more than a 12-hour shutdown. Others, however, said that the connection was still being interrupted, and was going on and off. “No connection at all. Everything was blocked,” Biniam Alemayehu said. Alemayehu told Quartz that his 4G phone connection didn’t start working until 9.30 am.

This is not the first time the Horn of Africa nation shut down social media outlets to prevent exam leakages. In July 2016, the government blocked social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Viber after university entrance exam questions were posted online. Getachew Reda, the government spokesperson at the time, said the blockade was a “temporary measure” given that social networks served as “a distraction” to students.

Ethiopia, which has one of the lowest internet and mobile connectivity rates in the world, was among the first countries to censor the internet to curtail political protests.

Since Nov. 2015, more than 500 anti-government protestors have been killed and thousands of others arrested while demanding land reform and an end to human rights violations. The government responded by declaring a state of emergency, shutting down the mobile internet, and banned the use of social media networks to document the ongoing unrest in the country. A Brookings Institution report showed that the shutdown cost the country’s booming economy millions of dollars in revenue.

Julie Owono, the executive director of the advocacy group Internet Sans Frontières said the latest shutdown was “unnecessary” and violated the digital rights of Ethiopians. Just this month, an Ethiopian court sentenced opposition politician Yonatan Tesfaye to six and half years in prison for Facebook posts he wrote criticizing the government.

Algeria’s government also took similar steps to Ethiopia’s in June 2016, when it blocked social media networks in order to fight cheating in secondary school exams.

Biography, Profile & Life History Of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan CGFR

Former President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan aka GEJ was the president and commander-in-chief of the federal armed forces of Nigeria who took over the mantle of leadership after the death of President Umaru Musa Yar-Adua. Goodluck Jonathan was born on November 20, 1957.

He is regarded as the luckiest politician in Nigeria’s history, having served as a deputy governor in Bayelsa State prior to December 2005 but got sworn in as the governor after the erstwhile governor Mr. Alamiesiegha was impeached.
Mr. Jonathan became the Governor of Bayelsa from December 2005 to May 2007. His fate also earned him the president of Nigeria in February 2010 when the Nigerian senate confirmed him following the hospitalization and subsequent death of the then president Yaradua.

According to the NAN, Goodluck Jonathan was born in Otueke, in the Eastern region of River State which has now become Bayelsa State because of numerous state creation in 1993. Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, recently tagged himself as “the most criticized president in the world” many Nigerians believed he was speaking the truth as most of his economic policies were out-rightly rejected and criticized for lacking “human face” The outright rejection of the removal of fuel subsidy for instance is one of such.
Ex President Goodluck Jonathan won at the polls in April 2011, and his victory was declared by the court as free and fair, however the violence that trails his declaration as the president continues to this day, with thousands of Christians as well as southerners living in the North either killed or maimed. The real cause of the killings in the North was that most northerners believed that the tradition of rotational president which includes 2-terms in office has been broken with the swearing-in of President Jonathan after the death of President Musa Yaradua who was a Northerner. 

He was later dethroned in 2015 after former military head of state Gen. Muhammadu Buhari won the general election on the platform of All Progressive Congress. This was the first time an opposition party has ever dethroned/defeated an incumbent president in Nigeria. President Goodluck Jonathan's career profile
  • In 1993, he was appointed as an assistant director at the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, a post he held till 1998. By now he had also worked as an education inspector and environmental-protection officer.
  • He entered politics in the late 1990s when he became involved with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), an emerging political party. Under the party’s banner he was elected deputy governor of Bayelsa state in 1999.
  • As the deputy governor he worked alongside Diepreye Alamieyeseigha who was selected as the governor of the state. In 2005, the incumbent governor Alamieyeseigha was accused of money laundering in the United Kingdom and thus Jonathan was sworn in as the governor.
  • In 2007, he was selected to be the vice presidential running mate of the PDP’s presidential candidate, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. They were both elected and took their respective offices in May.
  • As Vice-President he was by statute, a member of the National Security Council, the National Defence Council, the Federal Executive Council, and the Chairman of National Economic Council.
  • As Vice-President, he played an important role in negotiating with militants in the Niger delta, who were fighting against petroleum companies operating in the delta region. In spite of holding such a high office he remained in the political background and maintained a low-profile.
  • His duties significantly rose in 2010 when the incumbent President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua started suffering from serious health problems. Yar’Adua was often away from the country for his medical treatment and the governance of the country suffered because of this.
  • Members of Nigeria’s National Assembly voted to have Jonathan assume full powers of the president and serve as the acting president until the incumbent president was able to resume his duties. Thus Jonathan became the Acting President in February 2010.
  • As the Acting President he asserted his power by reshuffling Yar’Adua’s cabinet. The Labour Minister Prince Adetokunbo Kayode was named Minister of Justice while the incumbent Minister of Justice Mike Aondoakaa was named as the Minister of Special Duties. Jonathan also promised to continue implementing the Seven-point agenda policy framework of President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.
  • President Yar’adua died on 5 May, 2010 and Jonathan was sworn in as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria the following day, thus becoming Nigeria's 14th Head of State.
  • Jonathan became the president under sad circumstances. Nevertheless, he immediately began his work as the president to bring about more efficient governance. He announced that his administration would focus on the issues of anti-corruption and electoral reforms.
  • He launched his 'Roadmap for Power Sector Reform in August 2010 in order to achieve stable electricity supply in Nigeria. In October 2011 he launched the Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YOUWIN) Initiative for harnessing the creative energies of young people between the ages of 18 and 35.

Microsoft Unveils World's Largest Plane With Two Cockpits

The co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen unveiled the world's largest aircraft on Wednesday 31th May, 2017. The massive plane rolled out by Allen's aerospace firm, Stratolaunch Systems, features the longest wingspan of any aircraft ever built, according to Popular Mechanics.

With a wingspan of 385 feet, the six-engine plane will be larger than Howard Hughes' 1947 H-4 Hercules, known as the 'Spruce Goose,' and the Antonov An-225, a Soviet-era cargo plane originally built to transport the Buran space shuttle that is currently the world's largest aircraft.

The Stratolaunch is an aircraft that is designed tocarry rockets between its two fuselages. In 2011, the project's cost was initially estimated to be at $300million, though there is no word as to the updated figures.

After the plane reaches altitude, it would then drop the launch vehicle, which will subsequently fire its boosters and launch into space from the air.

Nollywood Actress  Genevieve Nnaji started her acting career as a child. She surfaced on scene as a child actress in the then-popular television soap opera "Ripples" at the age of 8. She was also featured in several commercials, some of which included Pronto beverage and Omo detergent. 

In 1998, at the age of 19, she made her debut in the growing Nigerian film industry with the movie "Most Wanted." As an upcoming actress, trying to create a niche for herself, she went through various minor roles seeking for that opportunity for a breakthrough.


Her subsequent movies--"Last Party,""Mark of the Beast," and "Ijele" (which is still considered to be one of her best epic performances to date)--brought forth an icon to be loved and adored by many.

12yrs Old Homeless Nigerian Teen Gives Birth To A Baby At A Dump Site - Photo

She is just 12 and now she is a mother. Talk about twist of fate. A 12-year-old homeless street teen has given birth to a baby at a dumpster according to a report by Child's Right and Rehabilitation Network (CRARN) a charity organization in Nigeria.

In their words:

"The girl's only shelter is a dumpster at a dump side meant for collecting recycles, such as cans, aluminum, coppers and used plastic bottles. They had a naming ceremony and the child was named Miracle."

Terror Group Badoo Strike Again - Wipes Out Family Of 5 Including Pregnant Woman - Graphic Photos

Who are this people? That the Police or any other armed forces cannot apprehend? This terror group called Badoo has been terrorizing the people around Ikorodu area for far too long and nothing, absolutely nothing is being done about it.

The members of the notorious cult group struck again and this time, they killed a family of five including a pregnant woman at Itamaga behind Radio in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state. The recent attack was carried out in the wee hours of Sunday May 28th 2017.

According to reports, the cult members killed the pregnant woman, opened up her womb and went away with her fetus. They have been responsible for the killing of many families in the area within the last two months. They are known for using a grounding stone to attack their victims.
